Seeing Allah In Dream
Hazrat Daniyal r said that a believer who sees Allah in his dream indicates that he will see Allah and his needs will be fulfilled. If the dreamer is standing and Allah sees him, it is a sign of he being corrected, achieve control of inner self and his forgiveness will be ensured. If the dreamer is a sinner, he will repent. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
وَقَرَّبْنَاہُ نَجِیًّا
"And brought him near, confiding (to Him).”
(Maryam 52/19)
"and it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation
or from behind a partition.”
(Ash Shura 51/42)
If a person dreams that Allah has made him close, dear and respected, it is an indication of his forgiveness and he will see trouble in the world. If a person dreams that Allah is advising him, it indicates that Allah’s will is not in it. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
یَعِظُکُمْ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَذَ کَّرُ وْ نَ
"He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.”
(An Nahl 90/16)
If a person dreams that Allah is giving him good news, it shows His pleasure and on the contrary, if a person sees that Allah scaring / frightening him, it indicates His anger. If a person dreams that he is standing with his head bowed before Allah , it indicates grief and sorrow. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
وَلَوْ ترٰٓی اِذِ الٗمُجٗرِمُوْنَ نَا کِسُوْ ارُ ء ُوْ سِھِمْ عِنْدَ رَ بِّھِمْ
"If you could but see when the criminals are bowing their heads before their lord .”
(As Sajdah 12/32)
Hazrat Kirmani r said that if a person dreams of Allah giving him something, it is a sign of calamity and trouble in this world. If a person dreams that Allah sees him with pleasure/ happiness, it indicates that Allah will grant him paradise and His sight. If a person dreams that he has been given something from the goods of the world, it is a sign of serious illness, but he will be rewarded for it. Some interpreters argue that the person will be punished. If a person dreams of seeing Allah and a third person says that He is Allah , it is an indication of Kingship for the dreamer. If a person dreams of Allah coming to some place in this world, it indicates that the people of that area are oppressed and Allah will help those people; if there is famine and hardship, then there will be generosity and if the inhabitants of the area are sinners, they will repent. If a person dreams of Allah coming to his house and caresses his head or puts on a robe, it is a sign of Allah’s grace; but this person will bear sorrow and illness in this world. If a person sees Allah’s divine face in a dream, which cannot be expressed, it is an indication of grief and sorrow. If a person dreams that Allah has given him another name, it indicates honor and greatness. If Allah has dominated him, it is a sign of asceticism and piety. If a person dreams that Allah has brought him close to Himself , it indicates that the person's death is near.
Hazrat Jabir al-Maghribi r said that if a person dreams of Allah in a city or a village, it indicates that the good people of that place will get respect, honour and position. There will be no more oppression at that place. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
اَللّٰہُ یَحْکُمُ بَیْنَھَمْ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَتِہ ِ فِیْمَا کَا نُوْا فِیْہِ
یَخْتَلِفُوْنَ
"Allah will judge between them on the day of resurrection concerning that over which
they used to differ.”
(Al Baqarah 113/2)
If a person dreams that Allah is angry over a city, it indicates that either judge of the city is unjust, ruler of the city is oppressing his subjects or the learned people of this city are irreligious. If a thief sees this dream, his hands and feet will be cut off and there will be trial, destruction and murder in the city. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
وَھُوَ الْقَا ھِرُ فَوْ قَ عِبَا دِہٖ ویُرْ سِلُ عَلَیْکُمْ حَفَظَتہ ً حَتّٰی اِذَا جَاۤ
ءَ اَحَدَ کُمُ الْمَوْ تُ تَوَ فَّتْہُ رُسُلُنَا وَ ھُمْ لَا یُفَرِّطُوْنَ
"and he is the subjugator over his servants, and he sends over you guardian angels
until, when death comes to one of you, our messengers take him, and they do not fail (in
their duties).”
(Al Anam 61/6)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas r said, that if a person sees Allah in a dream, he will remain in peace from fear, and if the person is a Muslim, he will see Allah in the Hereafter. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
لِلَّذِ یْنَ اَحْسَنُو ا الْحُسْنٰی و زِیَا دَ ۃُ ُ
"For them who have done good is the best (reward) and extra.”
(Yunus 26/10)
Dream interpreters say that if a person sees Allah in a form that has never been seen before, it is a sign of His grace and mercy. If the dreamer sees Allah in the form of a person than that particular person will be dominant and renowned. If a person sees Allah during prayer or Tasbeeh, it is a sign of His mercy and forgiveness. If victorious fighters sees Allah during battle, it is a sign of their forgiveness. If a person abuses Allah in a dream, it is a sign of his disbelief. If a person dreams of Allah sitting on a throne or sleeping, these are inappropriate attributes and is an indication that the person will be a non-believer and sinner.
Hazrat Jafar Sadiq r said that when Allah is seen mercifully in a dream, it is due to the under mentioned seven reasons and if He is seen in anger, the reasons would be opposite:
1. Forgiveness
2. Peace from calamity and distress
3. Light, guidance and strength in religion
4. Victory over the oppressors
5. Peace from calamity and punishment of the Hereafter
6. The population and ruler of the country will be just
7. Honour and high status in this world and the Hereafter
If a judge dreams of Allah looking at him with anger, it is a sign that he transgresses the Sharia and does compensate the oppressed. If a king / ruler dreams of Allah looking at him with anger, it is a sign of him being cruel and unjust and if a scholar dreams of Allah looking at him with anger, there is a disturbance in his religion and belief. In short, when seen with mercy, it indicates forgiveness and when seen with anger, it is a sign of punishment.
